笔记

Where a prescribed under-the-skin shot actually goes

Research vials on a bench. This note is about prescribed injection sites, not these vials.

Subcutaneous means under the skin, into the fat. Not into the muscle. Not into a vein. That is the whole idea of this kind of shot.

For Mounjaro, which is Lilly's prescribed tirzepatide pen, Lilly's own instructions name three fatty areas:

Zepbound is the same medicine under the weight-management name, and the site list matches. Change the spot each week. You can stay on the same body area, but pick a different place inside that area. Do not inject where the skin is tender, bruised, scaly, hard, scarred, damaged, pitted, thickened, or lumpy. Do not use the same exact spot you just used for a different shot, such as insulin.

Patient guides that track Lilly's label also say to stay about 2 inches, roughly 5 cm, away from the belly button, and to use the front or outer thigh rather than the inner thigh. Your prescriber is who confirms the spot for your body. The pen in your hand has a paper insert. That insert wins over a forum. Lilly's current US instructions for use are here: Mounjaro Instructions for Use.

A compounded prescription is not automatically the Mounjaro pen. The pharmacy that made it should have given you a label and a show-you-once. If those say something different about the device, follow those. The fat-layer idea does not change. The gadget in your hand might.

This page does not set a dose. If a doctor prescribed you a finished medicine, the fatty spots above are the ones the tirzepatide label already lists. Turning a dry milligram label and a volume you already have into a concentration is the mix calculator. The vials on this shop are research material, 21 and older, not for people or animals.
